Colour vision testing with natural stimuli and neural networks

Abstract

Natural visual stimuli have characteristics for which the visual system is adapted and optimized. Natural colours, for example, are more frequent in the blue-yellow axis and represent only a small part of all the colours we can see. This project aims to explore the use of new colour vision tests based on natural stimuli obtained from spectral images of natural scenes and to use neural networks in data analysis. It proposes the development of four sub-projects that complement the Thematic Project "Mechanisms, genetics, and performance of the visual system: clinical research in humans and animal experimentation" of the Vision Laboratory of USP. Additionally, it proposes the teaching of a short postgraduate course on the topic as well as a series of lectures. (AU)
