Abstract

This project aims to study the joint variabilities of the respiratory activity, the jaw movement and the prosodic-acoustic parameters in the interpretation of prose and poetry texts. To this end, the patterns of chest and abdominal expansion and mandibular movement will be characterized when reading prose and poetry texts with different interpretations and their relationship with the sound production of these texts, equally divided between positive and negative valences, by twelve lay people and performing arts students. The productions will be evaluated in terms of pleasantness and statistical techniques will be used to infer the relationship between production in the three biometrics and the perception of pleasantness. The project has implications for the training of voice professionals as actors and voice actors, as well as for the relationship between jaw articulation, breathing and sound in the realization of prosodic emphasis and boundary marking.
