Upgrading Laboratories at the Center for Mathematics, Computing, and Cognition at UFABC: Proposal for Utilizing the 2024 Technical Reserve for Institutional Research Infrastructure

Abstract

This project addresses the current needs of the Center for Mathematics, Computation, and Cognition (CMCC) at UFABC. The proposal focuses on: (1) purchasing equipment to upgrade the Laboratory of Computational Biology and Bioinformatics; (2) maintaining equipment in the wet labs for cognition in the Delta Building; (3) acquiring equipment for data collection/analysis using eyetracking and fNIRS; (4) upgrading the air conditioning system in the laboratories of the Delta Building; and (5) acquiring equipment to enhance UFABC's Shared Multiuser Laboratories (LMUs). This infrastructure will be essential for the development of interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary research activities along three main axes: (i) neuroscience research with an emphasis on neurobiology and psychobiology using animal models; (ii) computational and mathematical modeling of biological systems; and (iii) research on cognitive processes. The proposed upgrades will be crucial for maintaining excellence in research. (AU)
