Abstract

The project "Marine Incursions and Faunistic Exchanges in the Interior of South America During the Devonian and the Paleobiogeographical Impacts in the Paraná Basin" has as its main objective to investigate the paleobiogeographical changes resulting from marine incursions in South America during the Devonian, focusing on the Paraná. The project involves collaborations with several universities and institutions, seeking to expand paleontological knowledge in the central region of South America, identify new fossil collection locations and better understand the Devonian fauna. The project improves its methodology with advanced techniques, including detailed field collection in new locations, morphofunctional analysis to understand the ecology of fossil organisms, and paleobiogeographic and morphometric studies to map dispersal patterns and faunal variation. This multidisciplinary approach aims for a holistic understanding of marine incursions and their impacts on Devonian biodiversity in the Paraná Basin by filling gaps in knowledge about the dispersal and biotic crises of Devonian marine macroinvertebrates.
