Annual Plan for use of funds to the Research Infrastructure Maintenance of FOP-UNICAMP, Fiscal Year 2024/Base Year 2023.

Abstract

FOP currently has seven Postgraduate Programs. In the last CAPES evaluation, for the 2017-2020 four-year period, four FOP Programs received grades corresponding to excellence in Postgraduate Studies, three of which received grades of 7 and one of which received grade 6. This evaluation places FOP at very high levels, considering Postgraduate teaching. Other criteria have consolidated FOP's leadership in research, such as the number of Research Productivity Grants granted by CNPq for the area of ¿¿Dentistry. Approximately 2% of the national total of grants in the area of ¿¿Dentistry are granted to FOP professors. The number of Postgraduate students is also significant, with more than 500 active students in Master's, Doctorate and Professional Master's degrees, who develop their theses in approximately 80 lines of research, supervised by just under 80 in-house professors and a similar number of collaborating researchers/professors. Since the beginning of the Postgraduate Program, approximately 2,200 Master's dissertations and 1,600 Doctoral theses have been defended at FOP. 45% of FOP faculty members have already completed post-doctoral studies abroad. Although the performance of FOP's Postgraduate Program and research is noteworthy, the institutional infrastructure is still not suitable. The building where FOP is located is relatively old, having been inaugurated in 1977, and has suffered from the advances; maintenance is basic, caused by budgetary constraints. Thus, there is an urgent need to improve the infrastructure conditions for research in order to maintain minimally adequate working conditions for FOP's Postgraduate Program students and faculty. At this time, the main demand for research laboratories is the need for distilled water and ultrapure water equipment with the capacity to meet ongoing projects. It is important to note that most of the existing water equipment has reached obsolescence and there is no way to maintain such items due to the lack of availability of parts from suppliers. Therefore, there is a consensus to request the current use of RTI resources for the purchase of the indicated equipment, which will asure basic conditions for the development of scientific projects of this unit.
