EMU: Acquisition of multi-user High Tech Ultrasound

Abstract

This proposal envisages the acquisition of high-tech multi-user ultrasound, for diagnostic advances in musculoskeletal, cardiopulmonary, women's health, and clinical medicine in general. The equipment will be located in the Joint Function Analysis Laboratory (LAFAr), Ultrasound Unit, in the Department of Physiotherapy (DFisio), at the Center for Biological Health Sciences, at the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar), together with other multi-user equipment - DXA unit (Dual energy x-ray absorptiometry), already in operation since 2016. This ultrasound will be different researchers/users, as it presents specificities in advanced and unique images, allowing information at great depth (up to 55 cm) , for the diagnosis of different body systems, with emphasis on the obese population. Ultrasound is becoming a popular tool, as it is more affordable and does not expose patients to irradiation. Due to technological advances in the area of ultrasound development, this equipment will allow the expansion of studies involving image diagnosis. (AU)
