EMU: Acquisition of multi-user equipment for cellular assessment with simultaneous image capture (Amnis ImageStream MK II).

Abstract

The possibility of obtaining spatial resolution of particles captured in flow, coupled with multifluorescent cell and structure markers, is, among the available technologies, one of the most powerful ways to obtain robust analytical data on cellular phenomena. This type of analysis requires a unique equipment in the market, called Amnis ImageStream MKII (Cytek), which uses technologies derived from flow cytometry and fluorescence microscopy to enable the capture of images and morphometric and multispectral characterization of millions of individual cells in seconds. Its applicability stands out in the analysis of cell death, cell cycle, endocytic traffic, and the localization of molecular complexes and organelles in contexts that demand the analysis of individual cells or those difficult to obtain - such as circulating cells and rare cellular subpopulations or challenging samples. It serves as a powerful tool with potential applications for different lines of research in basic and applied biomedical sciences. The ImageStream is an equipment that is not available in the Unit or in the Institutions of the nearest region and is being sought as an EMU to be incorporated into a consolidated multi-user facility (FMRP Cytometry Center) that currently serves researchers from 6 distinct Units, emphasizing the commitment to promote access and effective use of this equipment, with the potential to impact various research areas.
