Abstract

A recent study by the Brazilian Society of Nematology indicates a potential loss of R$ 870 billion over the next 10 years due to phytoparasitic nematodes, with annual losses already documented at R$ 65 million in crops such as soybeans. Current management strategies include the use of chemical nematicides and resistant crops, but these methods have limitations such as cost, environmental impact, and reduced efficacy due to the diversity of nematode species. Thus, biological control emerges as a promising alternative, offering an effective and environmentally sustainable solution. Among the main biological control agents used as nematicides are bacteria and fungi. Among the fungi, species of Pochonia spp. and Purpureocillium spp., such as P. chlamydosporia and P. lilacinum, are more frequently isolated and favorable as biocontrol agents of phytonematodes, since both fungi act as parasites of the eggs and sedentary stages (females and juveniles). Therefore, this work aims to develop a suspension with bionematicidal properties composed of a combination of microorganisms for future formulation of a bionematicide for application in various economically interesting crops (AU)
