Abstract

This research project aims to study the mechanisms of nuclear reactions involving weakly bound, stable, and radioactive projectiles, focusing on investigating the breakup mechanism of these nuclei. The experimental measurements will be carried out using the kinematic coincidence technique, which provides exclusive data and allows for inferring details about the reaction mechanism and possible couplings between continuum channels and bound states. To achieve this, a more modern and innovative data acquisition technique will be employed, using the digital electronics recently acquired through the FAPESP project (grant number 2019/07767-1). This technique enables the inclusion of the effective time information of the event, allowing for better handling of coincident events. In the context of nuclear reaction cross-sections, this methodology has not yet been applied at the Open Laboratory of Nuclear Physics and Applications (LAFNA) of the Institute of Physics of the University of São Paulo (IFUSP). For the realization of these measurements, we will develop a compact and exclusive detection and acquisition system, reactivating LAFNA's 15B beamline, which is currently deactivated. Measurements with radioactive beams will be carried out using the Radioactive Ion Beams in Brazil (RIBRAS) system, installed on the 45B beamline. (AU)
