Abstract

The aim of this project is to analyze the linguistic-historical identification processes that constitute the city as a symbolic universe and organize the social relationships. We plan to explicit the various language mechanisms that conform the urban space and define the sites of signification/interpretation considering the speakers positions. We intend to give visibility to the processes that set up public senses and define the citizen s life in the urban imaginary. The question of urbanity appears in habitation problems, violence, unemployment, poverty, restriction of citizenship. Understanding how these questions are invested of sense, our objective is to evaluate how social organizations (popular movements, associations, syndicates) answer to these questions. The goal therefore is to establish a kind of knowledge that allows a reflected relationship linking university and society. (AU)
