Abstract

This project combines two complementary lines of action to reinforce the Centre for Plasticulture Engineering's (CEP) expertise in functional agricultural films. First, we will conduct an in-depth diagnosis of commercial films already trialed in the field, mapping layer architecture, chemical composition, PAR-vs-NIR selective transmittance, antistatic performance and the loss of optical properties caused by dust accumulation, a critical issue highlighted in agronomic tests. In parallel, we will formulate polyolefin composites with functional fillers and extrude prototype films able to maximise PAR, curb heat build-up and preserve optical performance even in tropical environments with high dust loads. Correlating microstructure, barrier properties and horticultural productivity will underpin technical recommendations and foster the development of disruptive films for Brazil's agronomic sector. (AU)
