Media, electoral campaign and Political Attitude in São Paulo

Abstract

The objective of the project is to follow in a first moment, the municipal elections of 2000 in the city of São Paulo and, in a second moment, the state elections of 2002 in the State of São Paulo, analyzing the relationship between the media and the political and electoral processes- focusing on how the media agenda and the public agenda are defined during the electoral campaigns, the coverage and the framing of the campaigns by the press, the individual and party strategies in the use of mass communication, the innovations of the electoral campaigns, the study of television and radio news programs, the impact of the media on the political attitude and on the decision of the vote.
