Adaptation of calorimetry laboratory for studies of homogeneous and heterogeneous systems


This plan is aimed at the application of calorimetry to various systems, with special focus aimed at the heterogeneous system, with the objective of obtaining interactive thermodynamic results. Among the aspects to be explored we have: a) immobilization of molecules in silica gel; b) intercalation in inorganic lamellar compounds; c) organic probes in clays and double hydroxides; d) bioactive compounds in biological systems and f) interaction of solutions of surfactant polymers. The calorimetric technique will depend on the type of interaction. For small quantities of sample and slow reactions microcalorimetry will be used. For heterogeneous systems adjustment to models will be sought, which make it possible to calculate and correlate thermodynamic properties, with those obtained through other techniques. (AU)
