Abstract

The aim of this project is the evaluation of the mechanisms by which the neuroendocrine system participates in the modulation of the endocrinal, cardiovascular and renal behavior reactions in the maintenance of hydroelectric homeostasis. We will study the interactions of the ANPergic, oxytocinergic, vasopressinergic, catecholaminergic system and of nitric oxide in the control of the ingestion and/or excretion of water and electrolytes. To this end we will carry out experiments in vitro and in vivo with manipulation of the extracellular volume and plasmatic osmality through the expansion of volume, hydric restriction, use of drugs or neurohypophysectomy.
