Abstract

The project has the objective of studying the relationship between violence and cultural productions. Bringing together different researchers who work with the question of the representation of violence and the limits of the possibility of representation, the project aims to go deeply into studies of violence as well as making a contribution to Literary Theory and for a theory of the presentation of violence, as conceived in its widest form. With emphasis on the 20th century and with the majority of individual research efforts concentrated on the phenomenon of the presentation of violence in literature in Brazil, the project also involves research on the theory of the memory of violence, the relationship between literature, violence and the law, on the representation/presentation of Shoah, on the testimony of Latin America and on autobiographical texts by ex-terrorists.
