Abstract
The High Energies Astrophysics group of the IAG-USP and of the CRAAM-Mackenzie University have, for over a decade, been developing several projects within a multidisciplinary context which involves the theoretical, observational and multidimensional numerical study of high energy astrophysical phenomena and plasmas. In this panorama, we have been investigating aspects of the structure of the universe, of the formation of stars and compact objects and their observational signatures in the cosmic environment. In addition to this, special emphasis has been given to the development of basic plasma processes, such as, magnetic reconnection, origin of the magnetic fields, and acceleration of particles. Within these proposals, several numerical tools have been developed for carrying out multidimensional numerical magneto-hydrodynamic simulations. In view of the recent expansion of our activities, the present proposal is intended principally to request new computational equipment which will enable the current resources of the group to be modernized.
