Metabolism of phospholipids in schizophrenia and Alzheimer's disease

Abstract

Disturbances in the metabolism of phospholipids were described by us and by other authors in schizophrenia and Alzheimer's disease. In this thematic project we will investigate the mechanisms which lead to these disturbances in both illnesses, their repercussions for brain function and their clinical implications. This investigation will be carried out in four inter-related dimensions: Biochemistry and Spectrography, Molecular Genetics, Molecular Biology and Electrophysiology. The laboratory findings will be juxtaposed to psychopathological, neuropsychological and evolutive parameters. (AU)
