Abstract

Present work aims at evaluating the influence of a high fat and high carbohydrate diet on the insulin resistance, muscle vasodilation and intramyocellular fat content in moderate obese women (n=40) in the fasting and alimentary period. The rationale for this study is the fact that all of these parameters are related with cardiovascular disease, and the influence of different diets on these, is not yet elucidated in the literature. Furthermore, since some of these factors (post-prandial lipemia) may worsen during the alimentary period, measurements will be carried out in the fasting state and after a test meal (rich in carbohydrate or rich in lipids) at the end of each period diet. The study will be conducted in 40 women selected in the Clinical Hospital of Sao Paulo Medical School, age 20-32 years and BMI 25-30 Kg/M2, during 18 weeks. (AU)
