Abstract

Hipervalent iodine reagents, either I(III) or I(V), have been widely used in Synthetic Organic Chemistry. This project aims to develop new approaches, as well as applications toward the total synthesis of molecules with biological activity. Several new methodologies to promote the ring contraction of cyclic olefins and ketones will be investigated. Furthermore, new approaches to the total synthesis of (+)-indatralina, of ()-irindalone and of (+)-trans-trikentrine A will be explored. We also aim to study ring expansion reactions to obtain molecules bearing seven membered rings. (AU)
