Abstract

An enormous variety of new therapies has been emerging in the last years as a consequence of progresses in the field of the sciences and the new technologies applied to biological systems. The common fact to all of this proposed new therapeutics is that in many of them that come as innovation is basically the rediscovered of old drugs as ‘new design’. It understands as a ‘new design’, new and efficient systems of drug delivery system, used with the intention of resuscitating old and excellent active drugs, which in the course of time left of being used due to the amount of side effects detected after long time of attendance, as well as, no viability of production and other factors. This new tendency has been found support and partnership in pharmaceutical industries of medium and great capacity, which noticed that the modifications of the vehicle of administration for some drugs can provide new strategies in the market of products that have been in market for years, with the in vivo test and therapeutic efficiency proved. Besides, the wide accumulation of scientific knowledge for each active drug will help in the agility of the technology transfer process. Allied to this new tendency appears new therapies based in a control and precise activation process of the drugs, be modulated by complementary agents as light (in the case of the photodynamic process), or magnetic field (in the case of the hyperthermia effects), or still for other external agents to not incorporate directly in the drug-DDS complex. Such new therapeutics is focused in treatment of cancer and other pathologies, as examples, dentistry, veterinary, neurological diseases, neuro-orthopedical and, more recently, the tissue engineering. Associated to these news DDS we can incorporate many biocompatible markers that will allow to monitor the biodistribution of the drug in the body, and in many cases also to address the accumulation of the same ones to the biological target (as cells, tissue, organs, and microorganisms). This concept has already been applied with success in the treatment of the skin cancer with very good results obtained in clinical trial developed in tree ambulatory structures already existent in the country. In the dentistry the studies and treatments for carie and, endodontic and periodontic diseases already reached also clinical status in several research centers (Sao Paulo, Ribeirao Preto). In the other areas, as veterinary, neurology and neuro-orthopedics, the studies alive in (small animals) are running very well and they should allow studies phase one ( in human) very soon . The research project proposes here the development of new drug delivery systems for application of drugs and active principles to four areas of the health. Standing out: I-Oncology (skin cancer and other neoplastic diseases), deepening the studies in this area and expanding them for deeper skin cancer, and for other cancer tissue, as lap, bladder, prostate and mamma; II- Tissue Engineering, using the experiences and these success of 35 year of studies involving photodynamic therapies applied to the cancer, to treat and to modulate her restoration of other countless cuttaneous process as wound repair, as well as, restoring the activity of the cuttaneous transplanted tissue in patients that need this new technology; Ill-Neuro-orthopedics, making the use of these new nanoestructured systems associates with biocompatible carbon nanotubes, to allow the restoration of terminal nervous and neuronal growth in outlying organs; IV-Neurological Disturbances (oncology and epilepsy), gone back to study of neoplastic diseases of cerebral trunk cancer through experimental models treated with photosensitive drug nanocarries in a special way to over the brain blood barrier.
