Abstract

The main objective in this work is the enhancement of numerical codes, in development at Departamento de Engenharia Mecânica - UNESP Ilha Solteira, for simulation of fluid flows by solution of the Navier-Stokes equations in 2D and 3D Cartesian coordinates, using the Finite Element Method in sub-domain and least-squares formulations. Nowadays, the versions of the computational programs can be applied to solve unsteady incompressible fluid flows with heat and mass transfer, with large eddy simulation methodology, in 2D domains with obstacles. In this project, extensions of computational programs are in development to permit simulation of 3D turbulent fluid flows with heat and mass transfer with several boundary conditions. The large eddy simulation methodology with eddy viscosity model of Smagorinsky will be employed. Several tests will be implemented to validate the numerical codes and the results will be published in the literature. (AU)
