Effect of ZrO2 coating on wax pattern before inclusion in phosphate-bonded investment on the fusibility, porosity, surface reaction (a-case) and marginal misfit of crowns cast titanium

Abstract

The titanium has innumerable favorable characteristics, including: biocompatibility, high resistance to the corrosion, low density, high relation strength/mass, high ductility, low thermal conductivity, as well as adjusted mechanical properties that favor its increasing application in structures of denture. However, despite the current period of training of development reached with the available methods of casting, some defects still are frequent, as incomplete casting, internal porosity and extreme formation of reaction layer. The intention of this study is to evaluate the effect of the covering of the wax standard with paste of ZrO2 on the fluidity and the occurrence of internal porosity in casting titanium, the analysis of the reaction layer and marginal unfit of casting crowns propitiated by three phosphate investment: Rematitan Plus (specific for titanium), Rema Exact and Castorit Super-C (alternative) compared with Extreme, specific the Rematitan covering for titanium, to the magnesium base, free of phosphate and silica (group has controlled). Thus, the proposal was to gain subsidies for the study of the viability of the covering use of lesser cost for the casting of structures of prostheses in titanium, what it collaborates for the popularization of this important material.
