Mobility and persistence of herbicides applied in pre-emergency in different soils

Abstract

The pesticides, as the herbicides, get in touch with the groundwater through the soil solution, that carries the product for leaching or when the products reach channels or wells, that link to the aquifer. The lack of having taken care for occasion of the choice or of the use of the product in close areas to the wells or the discard of syrup remains and water of wash of pulverization equipments are responsible for the contamination. In Brazil, studies indicate the potential of contamination of the Guarani aqüífero for the following herbicides used in the culture of the sugarcane: tebuthiuron, diuron and hexazinone. Now other herbicides come iimportant in the control of weeds in this culture, however, studies don't exist on the leaching potential and persistence of these products in different soil types. Therefore the objective of this project is to verify the mobility and persistence of the herbicides clomazone (+ ametrina) and isoxaflutole in soils with different textures and chemical properties. For this, different soil types will be put in tubes of PVC in vertical position. After the application of the herbicides, these will be reached by water in different intervals. The leached of each column will be collected and analyzed. The soil columns will be put in horizontal position and sorghum will be sowed along the column. In the persistence works, the studied herbicides will be applied on vases containing different amounts of sugarcane trashy and after simulation of rains soil samples they will be collected periodically for bioassays transport with indicative plants (AU)
