Abstract
This research is planned to evaluate stress among hospital nurses and use of hardiness as coping strategy. The stress among nurses is evaluated as high and has repercussion in quality of life. The method proposed is quantitative. The questionnaires will be used are: Bianchi inventory; Perceived Stress Inventory (PSI) and Hardiness Inventory (HI). The PSI and HI have to be validated in Portuguese. The phases are: translation, validation, collection of data using the questionnaires and coping intervention. The hospital nurses of São Paulo City will be invited to participating in this study. The expected results are: 1. validation of inventories to be used among nurses; 2. validation of hardiness scale; 3. compare nurses profile and stress level in order to improve quality of nurses life. As difficulties there will be the approaching of nurses and their participation in discussion about stress and coping. (AU)
