The first aim of this study is to develop research on the areas with unequivocal quantification of thermal imbalance in the inner cities of São Paulo and quantify their coverage in urban areas with hypothetical low environmental quality through the application of aerial thermal and multi-spectral remote sensor for classification and quantification of the open spaces, building and evaluation of the urban forest. The second activity will implement method for evaluation of indicators for urban forestry certification sponsored by the Department of the Environment of São Paulo, seeking better tools for urban forestry management by local governments. The partner institution will be the Secretariat of Environment of São Paulo. These two activities also include the development of techniques and training of staff through the state certification program called Green Blue municipality. Thus the design of public policies at the state level will be promoting new technologies and indicators for improved management of urban green. (AU)
