Oxidation of hydrocarbon, drugs, azo dyes and other substrates catalysed by metalloporphyrins and salen complexes

Abstract

Commercial and synthesized metalloporphyrins and salen complexes will be used as catalysts for oxidation of hydrocarbon, drugs, pesticides, dyes and other interesting substrates such as clorexidine, by hydrogen peroxide, sodium hypochloride, meta-chloroperbenzoic acid and others, as models of cytochrome P450 in the oxidation of drugs such as antituberculosis, antimalary, anticonvulsivant and others, herbicides such as atrazine and simazine, azo dyes, such as disperse red 1, disperse orange 3, and other substrates, such as chlorexidine, by cheap oxidands as hydrogen peroxide, hypochloride and alquil hydroperoxide, in homogeneous and immobilized on to different solids. These systems will be also investigated about their use to synthesize interesting metabolites for pharmacological and pharmacokinetic studies. It will be used commercial metalloporphyrins such as 5,10,15,20-tetrakis-(2,6-dichlorophenyl) porphyrin metal(III), Me(TDCPP)Cl, and 5,10,15,20-tetrakis-(pentafluorophenyl) porphyrin metal(III)chloride, Me(TFPP)Cl, in solution and immobilized on to solid supports, and water soluble metalloporphyrins such as 5,10,15,20-tetrakis-(N-methyl -4-pyridil) porphyrin metal(III), Me(TMPyP)n+ and 5,10,15,20-tetrakis-(4-carboxyphenyl) porphyrin metal(III)chloride, Me(TCPP)Cl, (Me= iron or manganese), and other metalloporphyrins synthesized in our laboratory. It will be used commercial manganese salen complexes sucha as Jacobsen catalyst and other salen complexes also synthesized in our laboratory, in solution and immobilized on to different supports, pre-functionalized or not, such as chitosan, montmorilonite, zeolite, polymeric membranes, etc. (AU)
