Abstract

Parallel to the increase of the intensive creation of sheep occur the increase of some metabolic diseases like Pregnancy Toxemia in ewes. Although many studies have been done, still little is known on the etiology of the same one. The objective of this study is to analyze the metabolic and hormonal profile during singleton or twin or empty sheep pregnancy fed a high energy density during all gestation. The evaluations will be carried through before the artificial insemination, to 60º day after-covering and each 14 days until the first month after birth. It is intended to find, amongst the variable analyzed, urea, creatinine, albumin, total proteins, globulin, glucose, NEFA, BOHB, IGF-I, glucagon, insulin, leptin, cortisol, T3, T4 and ketones bodies, which the precocious indicator of metabolic disease during the gestation.
