In vitro evaluation of biostimulation of mouse odontoblastic cells (MDPC-23) with low level laser therapy (GAAlAs)


In a mature tooth, biological, chemical and/or mechanical injuries may have deleterious effects on odontoblasts leading to a modulation of their activity during dentin formation. This tissue may increase the distance between the injury and pulp cells, besides modifying its permeability, promoting a barrier to dentin-pulp complex. Nowadays, the utilization of laser has been considered a great technological advance in Medicine and Dentistry. Because of its unique properties, laser can deposit a great quantity of energy in biological tissues with extreme caution, which allows its utilization in diagnosis and therapies in several areas. Low level laser therapy promotes a cell biomodulation in wound healing, fibroblast proliferation, collagen synthesis and nervous and bone tissue regeneration, besides being used as a strategy in pulpar therapy, because of biostimulation of pulp cells, specially odontoblasts. The purpose of this study is to evaluate in vitro the effects of low level laser therapy in the behaviour of a mouse odontoblastic lineage (MDPC-23). The following parameters will be evaluated: cell proliferation and viability, total protein content, alkaline phosphatase activity and formation of calcified nodules. Besides, growth factors and proteins essential to odontoblasts function will be detected through immunolocalization, ELISA and PCR Real Time. (AU)
