Abstract
Successful rehabilitation with osseointegratable implants depends on several factors, with emphasis on the physical-chemical characteristics of the implant surface, which interfere in the biological responses and consequent bone repair at the bone-implant interface. The aim of this study will be to assess titanium implant surfaces modified by laser beam, with or without hydroxyapatite deposition by the biomimetic method, with or without thermal treatment, and modified by sodium silicate (SS), in comparison with machined implant surfaces (SU) and with acid etching implant surfaces (SA). One hundred and eighty external hexagon implants will be used, placed in 60 rabbits. The periods of euthanasia will be 30, 60 and 120 days and next, the torque-reverse test will be performed on the implants in 5 animals in each period. The tissue samples will be submitted to immunohistochemical processing to analyze the Cbfa1, osteoprotegerin (OPG), RANKL, osteocalcin (OC), osteopontin (OPN), and alkaline phosphatase proteins. The tibias of another 5 animals per period will be embedded in resin, cut and stained with alizarin red and Stevenel's blue for histometric analysis. The implant surfaces will be analyzed by scanning electronic microscopy and energy dissipation X-Ray (EDX), pre- and post-implantation in the tibias. The values obtained by the biomechanical, immunohistochemistry and histometric analysis will be submitted to statistical analysis (±=0,05). (AU)
