Abstract

Front to the relevance of the alcoholism in the scenery of Brazilian public health proposes this study with the objective of identifying the pattern of consumption of alcohol among high school students in the city of Passos - MG, Brazil, and its association with the sex, age, family relationship and personal aspects as religion, sporting practice and work, considering the importance of the precocious diagnosis for implantation of public politics back to prevention and treatment of this condition. In this cross-sectional survey, samples will be selected from probabilistic analysis from the school list, provided by the Department of Education of Passos. The size of the sample was fixed from the sample process to finite population, resulting in 1616 students of public schools and 591 students of private institutions; it will be picked out proportionally to the number of children enrolled in each school. For identification of disorders due to the alcohol will be used the AUDIT questionnaire. For characterization of the sample, information will be taken to, regarding the age, sex, family relationship, presence or without religion, sporting practice, work, economical level, education level and first contact with the alcohol. For evaluation of the socioeconomic level, the scale will be used proposed by the Brazilian Association of the Institute of Research of Market. The data will be select and presented in tables and graphs. Descriptive statistics of the variables will be accomplished with the construction of the respective confidence intervals. The association among the "risk of drinking" with each one of the other variables of interest will be studied through the chi-square test (Ç2). The data that present statistical significance or p <0.15 will compose the multivariated analysis. The significance level will be about 5%. Lectures will be noted after computation of the results, in each institution, for divulgation of the same and for the accomplishment of orientations about the risks of abusive use of alcohol. (AU)
