Development of a system to evaluate exhaust fans "in loco" in broiler housings

The broilers production is a great problem in tropical and subtropical climates as we have in Brazil. The increase in air velocity is a way to reduce air temperature using fans and exhaust fans. However, a little importance is given to study the performance of these equipments. This research has as objective to develop a system to evaluate "in loco" the exhaust fans performance inside tunnel ventilation broiler housings, evaluating the energy consumption, the relation between air velocity/energy consumption and measure the losses from wrong work pressures on the ventilation systems. A number of broiler houses with tunnel ventilation will be evaluated using the developed system, in the state of São Paulo, using different work pressures. This study aims to generate information about the equipments and their performance maximizing their use and reducing the operating costs increasing the gains on broiler production. (AU)
