Abstract

The sector of frits and glazes manufacturers is of great importance for the ceramic tile industry, the present work aims at to identify the influence of the chemical composition of frits ceramics and of deflocculants on the rheological behavior of glaze formulated from the same ones. The frits them are used in the present time as main constituent of glazes used in the national ceramic tile manufacture. A trend that if has observed is the constant attempt of reduction of cost of them frits without damage for its properties techniques, that in this in case that it implies in the development of formulations that very contain an amount low of zinc oxide, or even though, the absence of this raw material. However, frits without zinc developed until the present moment, have presented alterations in the rheological properties of the glaze suspensions that are prepared from the same ones, bringing difficulties for the stages of milling, peneiramento, storage and application of enamels. The study will be divided in two basic stages. In the first one, it is intended to raise the rheological behavior of different frits industrials who supposedly present rheology problems. They will be determined the curve of deflocculation for glazes composites for these frits, varying the amount of deflocculant and measuring its respective viscosities. In the following stage, it is intended to study the effect of the compositions of the frits them and the deflocculants on the rheological behavior presented by glazes in the previous stage. The interpretation of the results will allow to understand the importance of the components of frits them and deflocculants on the rheological properties of glazes and to supply subsidies the development of frits of optimized cost that present more adequate rheological behaviors of what those finding in frits them produced currently.
