Abstract

The multi-user of Automatic DNA Sequencing Unit in the Pharmacology and Molecular Biology Institute (INFAR) of UNIFESP-EPM has been working since March, 2001, being financial supported by FAPESP multi-user Project (Proc. No. 1999/12347-6). The acquired equipment was an automatic DNA sequencer ABI 377 from Applied Biosystems. Since the beginning of 2002, counting on the precious technical support of the biologist Sabrina Souza, trained to manage the laboratory with the supervision of responsible professors, the Unit adds up more than 17,500 sequences for professors and researchers of Biochemistry, Biophysics and Pharmacology Departments. Who join the INFAR building and also other departments of UNIFESP, showing that this work became essential throughout these years to the conduction and consolidation of research projects that evolve genomic approaches or gene expression.Even though the success of this enterprise and the necessity of a continuous encourage of DNA sequencing to the develop many projects from the Multi-user Unit Associated Researchers the present proposal has as aim to bring up to date the Automatic DNA sequencing Equipment of this unit, even though the ABI377 model is now deactivated for the lack of reposition pieces due to the discontinue politics of this equipment by Applied Biosystems company (*see attached document to the process carrying the emitted report of Applied Biosystems).
