Best management practices to prevent bacterial and parasitic disease in tilapia reared in cage

Abstract

One of the biggest challenges of fish-farming is the establishment of the best management practices to prevent diseases, cause their occurrence is linked to unbalance of interrelations between pathogen - environment – host. In other words, to factors which cause weakness on the host and/or those that predispose to increase the population of etiologic agents. Thus, the need of trials projected and carried out in fish farms, in order to increase the applicability of results to productive sector. To support the National Aquatic Animal Health (Normative Instruction n° 53/2003), the aim of this work is to adequate the stocking density and to verify the need of classification management, in order to reduce diseases occurrence and mortality index. Project will be carried out in production unit of Santa Fé do Sul and Region Fish Farmers Cooperative, located in the Ilha Solteira reservoir, Bonito stream, Santa Fé do Sul city, SP. (AU)
