Abstract

The mango is one of the fruits more consumed in the world. The binomial health/alimentation is waking up the consumer's attention in the search for healthier foods. The objectives of this project are: to evaluate the behavior of mango varieties conduced in an organic way, with relationship to the resistance to pests and diseases, vegetative development, production and characteristics of the fruits; to study the interactive effect crown x rootstock on the height and the development of mango varieties destined to the industry of organic pulp; to reform the Active Bank of Germplasm and the collection of mango varieties resistant to the Ceratocystis fimbriata of APTA. The experiment will be developed in the Apta - North Center Pole, in Pindorama - SP. Seventeen mango varieties will be used, planted on February 01, 2007, in experimental design in complete randomized blocks, with 17 treatments (varieties) and six repetitions (blocks). It will be accomplished the monitoring of diseases and pests of the orchard, being followed the recommendations of PIF. They will be appraised: height of the plant, diameter of the crown and rootstock; phonological cycle; flowering intensity; number of fruits retained by bud; production; weigh of the fruit; length, width and diameter of the fruit; appearance of the fruit; firmness; weigh of the seed and of the peel; seed and peel percentage; pulp percentage; coloration of the peel; total soluble solids (SST); total acidity (ATT); pH; ratio; ascorbic acid; infestation for fruit-flies and characterization of the diseases after crop. For the evaluation of mango rootstocks with crowns destined for organic pulp (industry) three crowns varieties will be used grafted on three rootstocks. The experiment will be installed in experimental design in randomized complete blocks, with nine treatments (combination of three rootstocks with three crowns) and four repetitions (blocks). For the recovery and maintenance of the germplasm collection of mango will be made seedlings to substitute the flaws of the collection, soil and leaf analyses, prunings, and the trees will receive identification plates.
