Abstract

Study on the effect of vaginal childbirth on the hemoglobin and hematocryte values in women. It is an epidemiologic transversal and prospective study that will be carried through at the Centro de Parto Humanizado do Hospital Geral de Pedreira, with term primipares, with single and alive fetus in cephalic presentation. The women who present third-degree or fourth-degree perineal laceration, blood transfusion during or after childbirth, presence of maternal comorbities (clinical or obstetrical) at the moment of the admission will be excluded, except those with anemia. The sample will be constituted by 432 women subdivided in 181 vaginal childbirth with episiotomy, 211 without episiotomy and 40 obstetrical forceps. The study will be carried through three phases. Phase 1- obstetrical admission and sample selection: it includes previous evaluation of eligibility criteria at the admission of the woman in labor and withdrawal of the first sample of venous blood. Phase 2 – Hospital discharge (36-48 hours after-childbirth): it includes the withdrawal of the second sample of venous blood. Phase 3- Follow-up consultation (15° day after-childbirth): late puerperal consultation and withdrawal of the third sample of venous blood. (AU)
