Clinical evaluation of effects Nd:YAG laser in prevention occlusal caries in primary and permanent teeth

Abstract

The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of Nd: YAG laser in the prevention of caries in deciduous and permanent teeth. For this purpose will be selected 40 children at high risk for dental caries with age among 7 and 9 years with the primary molars and permanent 1st molars. The treatments are randomly distributed among experimental and control groups in all four quadrants (UR, LL, LR and UL) of the oral cavity of the patient, so that everyone received all treatments. Patients will undergo clinical and radiographic examination and then receive guidance and motivation for hygiene oral health promotion at the beginning and during the callbacks, after 3, 6, 12 and 18 months of treatment by three calibrated examiners blinded "treatments performed. The clinical and radiographic criteria to be evaluated will be quantified by means of scores. After the exfoliation of deciduous teeth testing will take place in vitro. Tests will be done microhardness, scanning electron microscopy and light microscopy. The data are analyzed for distribution to determine the most appropriate statistical method, and the morphological analysis performed by the images obtained by light microscopy and scanning electron microscopy.
