Abstract

The FAPESP/LICR Human Cancer Genome Program aims to identify the genes expressed in human tumors. The compilation of gene coding region (open reading frame) is based in ORESTES method that is able to preferentially detect central coding portions of the expressed gene. The preliminary project goal is generating around 600.000 ESTs sequences expressed in the human genes, to be compared with existing data in Gene Data Banks (GenBank, Unigene, etc) by computational analysis; and then to make the data accessible through deposition in GeneBank. Our laboratory is a Sequencing Center (QV3) integrated to the QV Center: (Coordinator - Sergio Verjovski-Almeida). We are responsible for preparing one-fifth (26.000) of the templates to be sequenced in the QV Center of an estimated total of 130.000. (AU)
