Effects of promoters on catalytic performance of cobalt supported on carbon nanofibers catalyst for Fischer-Tropsch syntesis

Abstract

Carbon nanofibers composites with macroscopic shaping will be synthesized by chemical vapor deposition of ethane on nickel particles dispersed upon the surface of the graphite felt. The carbon nanofibers based composite will be employed as catalyst support of cobalt in Fischer-Tropsch synthesis. It will be investigated the effect of various promoters (Ru, Pt, Cu, K, Mn...) and the influence of syngas (H2/CO) composition on activity and selectivity of Co/CNF catalyst in the CO hydrogenation reaction (Fischer-Tropsch synthesis). The topic of this work is an extension of our previous research on the Development of a new monolith carbon nanofibers based catalyst for Fischer-Tropsch synthesis (FAPESP process n° 2006/00405-7). This process made it possible to obtain high selectivity to gasoline and diesel, good conversions (<65% CO) and satisfactory yields (~30% C8-C23). (AU)
