Abstract

The hospital practice in occupational therapy has shown a recent increase in scientific production and expansion of assistance but is still a field in consolidation. The professionals still face theoretical and methodological difficulties, which points to the need to construct strategies that foster epistemic reflexivity in the field. The creation of communities of practice has been a strategy used in countries like Canada and Australia to promote epistemic reflexivity and the development of care technologies. This research project aims to develop an exploratory study to determine the feasibility and impact of creating communities of practice for the development of epistemological reflexivity and the improvement of the production of care offered by occupational therapy for children and adolescents who present conditions such as illness, hospitalization, and vulnerability. The research participants are meant to be occupational therapists who work in pediatric wards or hospitals in the city of São Paulo, comprising a total of 6-to-12 participants. This is a qualitative study under the hermeneutic-critic methodology. It consists of the implementation of a community of practice by means of participatory research, using focus group, triggering workshops and Moodle workshops, as supporting resources. The content of the focus groups and materials made available on Moodle will be analyzed with the help of NVivo software. On the interpretive process, the analysis will seek to learn the meaning of the speeches of the participants and the intersubjectivity process established within the community of practice; through the dialectical perspective, the analysis will seek to seize the dissent and the influence of the macro-processes in the constitution of the occupational therapy hospital practices.
