Abstract

The increase of the elderly demands one of new urban organization and adequate health service to their particularities. Opportunity and challenges will be appear and come in these, the generation one of the new demands for the health system. In our everyday, the trauma and the accidents are linked for undesirable happenings and unexpected, although, many times can be to avoid and to control. In aged people the trauma and accidents are more accepted by limitation of their movements and reflex answer of your spill. That problem worsens to the health service and government system because the chronic and degenerative diseases joint to this, that it can be complicate your treatment and rehabilitation, representing an elevated relative cost. Thus, this project has the following goals: to determine the incidence and main types of trauma in elderly attended in emergency and trauma hospitals; to analyze the risk factors for trauma occurrence in the aged; to construct and to validate the risk indicators for the trauma in aged for to are use in the local planning and others action. The research will be accomplished in two phases: The first phase will be an epidemiologic prospective study, coorte type, involving elderly patients that suffered traumas and needed hospitalization, to verify main causes of trauma by an questionnaire and thus build the predictive indicators of the trauma. The second phase will be a exploratory and descriptive study with the professional of Health Basic Unit, to validate the instrument. It intends to contribute to improve the resolution of health problem in aged people, mainly of their damage and prevent the hospitalization, as well as promote a better life quality, in this population that increases in an growing speed.
