Abstract

An important issue in the study of the inclusion refers to social attitudes toward inclusion. Aiming to stimulate research on this matter, a scale labeled Escala Likert de Atitudes Sociais em Relação à Inclusão (ELASI) was constructed. It has two statistically equivalent forms and has already been in use for some years. The objective of this study is to draw up a new version of the ELASI, updating the terminology and making the two forms more strictly equivalent. The new version will be able to evaluate underlying factors. In order to identify eventual underlying factors in current version, the results of about 3,000 scales answered by the subjects of various researches will be analysed first. The discriminative capability of each item will be calculated also for both forms. Based on experimental and statistical criteria, the items will be randomly assigned to restore the two equivalent forms. The item wording will be reviewed in order to update the terminology. The new version of the ELASI will be answered by samples constituted of about 400 adults with at least high school education level. Because of some rewording and a new context due to new reconstructive forms, item analysis will be made. Psychometric property of the new version will be calculated in order to ascertain the consistency and reliability of new version of the ELASI. Another factor analysis will be made. (AU)
