Abstract
This is a project that aims to continue the previous research which also received financing from FAPESP. The previous project - Research on the environment of free musical improvisation - dealt with the relations between contemporary compositional thought and improvisation, performed a systematic study of the relationship between the musicians themselves and with electronic devices and was concluded successfully in 2009 when we started to integrate the thematic project Mobile led by Professor Fernando Iazzetta. As a result of the previous project we had the consolidation of this line of research (improvisation) in the Music Department at USP, the establishment of a center for research on the subject with a vast academic production (made by master, doctoral and postdoctoral students), the creation of courses at undergraduate and post and the establishment of two regular groups of practical and theoretical research: the group Musicaficta (with Fernando and Cesar Villavicencio Iazzetta) and the Orchestra Errante (composed of students of the music department). The current project aims to systematize the academic, artistic and bibliographic production of this research group by producing and publishing articles in Portuguese and English, participating in conferences in the country and abroad, and continuing the research on improvisation and its connections with other areas of knowledge. The main areas of research are composition, education, technology, history, analysis, genetic criticism, ethnomusicology, and philosophy. Therefore, the project must have theoretical developments - by conducting a literature and bibliographic production review - and practical, with the establishment and consolidation of study groups and performance.
