Abstract

This research intend to relate the Rodrigo Lefèvre's contribution (1938-1984) with national development debate that occured in School of Architecture and Planning of the university from São Paulo where he had graduated and teached in the most part of his professional life. The proposed approach extends the record of this dialogue beyond the architect Vilanova Artigas debate with. Nestor Goulart Reis Filho, Gabriel Bolaffi, Juarez Brandão Lopes teachers were very present in those years and that probably influenced the critical review of the technological process applied to the field project carried out by Rodrigo Lefèvre both in his performance alone or with and Sérgio Ferro, Flávio Império . The various contributions Lefèvre (1958-1984) can also be related to the political position of the architect, in a broader perspective on how to overcome underdevelopment in the context of Latin American countries. The output of industrialization and capitalism or socialism steps necessary technological development in these different situations may provide clues to explain the building systems, methods and projective criticism of the role of the architect produced throughout his career.
