Abstract

Bisphosphonates (BFS) have been extensively used to treat diseases of bone metabolism, especially in the prevention of bone metastases, Paget's disease and the prevention and treatment of osteoporosis and osteopenia. However, there are undesirable side effects as the induction of Osteonecrosis of the Jaws (bisphosphonate-related osteonecrosis of the jaws - BRONJ), a complication of difficult treatment and solution. Until now the physiopathology of BRONJ remains unclear and the treatment that should be established is uncertain. In a previous study demonstrated that the combination of laser therapy to conventional drug therapies and surgical treatment of lesions BRONJ significantly improved the healing of oral lesions. Therefore, the objectives of this study are: first to evaluate in vitro the effect of different concentrations of BFS most used today (alendronate and zoledronic acid) on the viability and proliferation of cells involved in wound healing BRONJ as osteoblasts and fibroblasts. Secondary, study the effect of phototherapy with low laser intensity, on these cells previously induced by BFS. Will be used osteoblast-like lineage OSTEO- 1 and fibroblasts of the human buccal mucosa lineage FMM1. The data will be compared statistically (p <0.05). (AU)
