Silage production of sugarcane with differents particle sizes

Abstract

Four trials will be carried outo to evaluate the effect of different particle size (T1: 0.5 cm; T2: 1,0 cm; T3: 1,5 cm and T4: 2,0 cm) of sugarcane ensilage. In the first trial aims to evaluate the fermentation profile, microbial populations, aerobic stability and total losses of silages, evaluates with 0, 3, 7, 14, 28 and 56 days of storage, with three replications per treatment, totaling 60 experimental silos of 20 liters of capacity each. In the second trial will be evaluated, in silos suface, the aerobic stability and total losses of sugarcane silages with size particle size using nylon bags with 3 kg of forage, along with the rest ensiled forage, to determine of recovery of dry matter and laboratory analysis. It will also be assessed the panel temperature of the silo before and after unloading, characterizing the temperature changes over its use. In the trird trial, will be used 52 Nellore beef cattle, with average initial weight of 350 to 380 kg, distributed in completely randomized desing, with initial weight as a covariate, to evaluate in diets containing the sugarcane silages with different particle size on the intake, feeding behavior, productive performance and carcass quality of beef cattle. In the fourth trial, will be used 8 Nellore beef cattle, with average initial weight of 350 to 380 kg, fistulated in the rumen, distributed in double randomized 4x4 Latin Square, to evaluate the intake and the total apparent digestibility of nutrients, ruminal parameters and rate of passage of diets containing sugarcane silages with different particle size.
