Abstract

Obesity in recent years has been considered a disease of epidemic proportions. Its prevalence reaches individuals from different economic levels partners in all stages of life, thereby increasing the prevalence of metabolic syndrome, characterized by a constellation of metabolic abnormalities among these: hypertension, dislipydemia, type II diabetes and insulin resistance associated with the excess visceral adipose tissue. Recent research has shown that obesity is specifically related to chronic inflammation, suggesting that the inflammatory status is an important factor in the development of both obesity and Metabolic Syndrome. The multifactorial etiology of obesity has stimulated extensive research seeks to understand the effects of interdisciplinary treatment aimed at its prevention, with prospects of reversing its damages and a possible way of treating this pathology. Previous studies of our study group showed that the interdisciplinary therapy was effective in reducing the prevalence of metabolic syndrome from 27% to 8% in obese adolescents. However, it is not evident which risk factors were controlled crucial to obtain these results. In this sense, this study aims to determine the effects of long-term therapy Interdisciplinary in control of the Metabolic Syndrome and check what are the pro and anti inflammatory biomarkers that explain or are determinants in the genesis and control of the Metabolic Syndrome.
