Investigation of beta-carbolines alkaloids, tryptamine in ayahuasca in samples of sweat, using the modified solid phase extraction and gas chromatography coupled with nitrogen-phosphorus detector

Abstract

The ²-carbolines alkaloids harmine and harmaline, and the powerful hallucinogen N, N-dimethyltryptamine are typical components of ayahuasca, a typical drink widely used in religious rituals in South America. Currently the use of ayahuasca has spread outside of South America in religious groups the use of tea was established in the United States and several European countries. Due to the increased consumption of this drink, it is important to use validated analytical methods for routine monitoring. This project aims to develop and validate a method for determining the components of Ayahuasca in sweat samples. The extraction of samples of sweat will be performed by modified solid-phase extraction and analyzed by gas chromatography with nitrogen/phosphorous detector. (AU)
