Abstract

The purpose of the present project is the study of direct nuclear reactions with a focus on nuclear structure and instrumentation. The nuclear structure part is based in three research areas. The first one is associated with the study of collectivity in the shape transition regions of mass A~100 and mass A~70. The second one is concerned with the evolution of hole-particle characteristics in the mass region A~100. And the third one, the principal area, consists of the study of the a-cluster structure on light and medium mass nuclei through (6Li,d) transfer reactions. The development of research collaborations with the MAGNEX Large-Acceptance Spectrometer Group, Laboratori Nazionali del Sud, INFN, Catania, Italy, and with the Cyclotron Institute at Texas A&M University, USA are also presented. The nuclear instrumentation part proposed consists of the development of a project for the upgrade of the detection capabilities of the Pelletron-Enge-Split-Pole-Spectrograph facility at IFUSP with the implementation of a high resolution position-sensitive proportional counter.
