This project is toward to study aspects of the cellular biology of Salmonella serotypes Enteritidis (SE) and Gallinarum biovars Gallinarum (SG) and Pullorum (SP) and the prevention of the infection of chickens by SE and SG as well. We have produced an attenuated strains of SG (SG "cobS"cbiA) that could be used to protect birds against fowl typhoid and the infection by SE. We are going to sequencing this strain to identify the altered region and also, it will be inoculated in avian macrophages cells to analysis the gene expression by the microorganism and the macrophages. Another study will be carried out to compare the genomic material of the biovars SG e SP. Although they are very closed microorganisms they provoke different diseases. The last approach will be made with a strain of SG containing flagella. There are some suggestions that the absence of flagella in SG e SP impede the immune system to control the infection. Therefore, making flagellated mutants of SG we will check that. (AU)
